Today we worked on textures for old, organic, and something of our choice. I made a tree, an old building, and a rounded piece of cardboard.
Then we started making the form for our pumpkin project.
It is rounded by the cuts in the cardboard.
This is my blog about the projects I do in Creative Design and Engineering

Today we made our proposals for the mono material headpiece. This is what I made:

I think it is detailed and shows what I am creating.
Today we drew things on a whiteboard that we wanted to combine into a headpiece. We started off by drawing a circle, then we decided it would be cool to have a jackolantern mask/helmet. Then we drew a traffic cone and realized it looked like a witch’s hat. Then, Shritan had the idea to add antlers. Next we tried to combine all of our ideas into one thing. When we did that we thought to make the pumpkin a little more abstract, something original. This is what we decided on:

I think it is going to look good, and it’s original.
On the first day of CDE we learned about the rules, we also looked around at all the resources we can use. On the second day, we started setting up our blogs. It was kind of confusing because I had never used WordPress before but I think I am getting the hang of it. On the third day our assignment was to make a single sheet of paper interesting, and this is what I made:

At first, I wasn’t sure what I was making but then I realized it looks like a mask so that’s what I went for. Next, our assignment was to make something out of just paper that was 10 inches tall and could support a 1lb weight, I made this:

The next day we presented our projects and got feedback. I added an elevator to the side to make it look more realistic.

On the next day we did some sketchbook drawings so the we could get used to drawing things around us. We did a blind contour of our hand, then a regular drawing of our hand, and finally some objects that we had at our tables.

On the next day, we made a technical, to-scale drawing of our paper project. The assignment was that we had to make it so someone could recreate it exactly as we made it. I was surprised because including all the details that were needed was harder than it looked. I think I created a very detailed drawing:

The next, and most recent project that has been assigned to us is to create an interesting, wearable, monomaterial headpiece. Our group has decided to make a hat that has the Cannon Cupola on it. This is the proposal I drew up:

This year, I have become better at imagining what I can do using only 1 material, this will improve my ability to create with multiple materials later on. At first, when building the paper tower, I wasn’t sure how I was going to connect the sides, because we couldn’t use glue. I then thought about connecting them by cutting one side with X-acto knife, and leaving some paper on the ends. Then cutting the corners off the other end so that I could insert the sides together. That went well, because I came up with it on my own instead of someone teaching me how to do it.
For the Cupola hat project, I want to make it more neat. I feel like the projects I’ve done prior have been a little messy, and I want to make it more aesthetically pleasing.
I think the I have demonstrated the engage standard well, because I have spent most of my class time working on my project. I wasn’t spending time talking to people, but instead getting work done.
I have also demonstrated the make standard by trying not to waste any of the materials that I have used and using tools such as the X-acto knife safely.
So, today we made a technical, to-scale drawing of our paper project. The assignment was that we had to make it so anyone could recreate it exactly as we made it. I thought it was going to be easier than it was, because I didn’t realize how exact it had to be. This is what I created:

Today we did some drawing practice in our new sketchbooks. Our first assignment was a blind contour of our hand and our next was to draw objects that we had around the room, and redo the hand drawing we did but this time we could look at the paper

Today we presented our projects and got feedback to make revisions.
I added an elevator to the side to make my design less boring, and more realistic.
For this project we had to make something out of just paper that was 10 inches tall and could support a 1lb weight. I think the best part about it is the design.
The project was to make a single sheet of paper cool looking by folding and tearing.
I made an abstract art piece and can be interpreted by the viewer.
On the first day of CDE we learned about the rules, we also looked around at everything there is to do.
On the second day, we started setting up our blogs. It is kind of confusing because I have never used this website before.
I am still learning the in’s and out’s of word press, but I think I will get pretty good at it. I hope that when I finish my blog, it will be very interesting.
I am very excited for the rest of the year and what I am going to create.
