UNC Wood Logo

For this project the class was allowed to make what ever we wanted. Since I recently moved into my new house I wanted to make something for my room. I got inspiration from the Pittsburg Steelers logo that Mr. Ruddy made for Mr. West. I knew I wanted to incorporate epoxy, and I decided to make a UNC logo sign.

I started by drawing what I wanted to make in my sketchbook as well as searching the web for inspiration. I came across this image and decided I wanted to make something similar to it.

I ordered some wood planks and cut them into 3 foot long boards. I then stained them and glued them together. From here, I used the CNC machine for the first time ever to cut the UNC symbol out of wood. With the help of Mr. Ruddy I poured Carolina blue epoxy over it. I then wood glue the two pieces together. Now that the sign was finished I kept forgetting to take it home and I decided to give it to Ms. Loflin. Next year I plan on making something similar for one of my siblings as a Christmas present.
